Application Development Manager

Number 41 Media is seeking an Application Development Manager. The ideal candidate will have considerable hands-on experience leading the development of complex, enterprise level .NET applications. Previous management experience is mandatory. Please apply if: your code is exemplary, your standards are first rate, and your ability to manage and lead developers is commendable.

At Number 41 Media, the Application Development Manager is responsible for managing technical resources and leading the development of software projects based on requirements provided by the project management office. The Manager works in conjunction with the Manager of Information Design regarding architectural and programming requirements and standards. As a champion of best practices and optimum standards, the Manager creates top notch technical architecture as the basis for all projects.

Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and revise accurate development plans to match requirements for all projects.
• Manage, review, and motivate a team of software developers.
• Lead by example by designing, building, and maintaining code to the highest quality development standards and practices.
• Identify and document sound software designs, processes, and practices so that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Provide technical assessments and estimates to project managers during requirements gathering.
• Ensure mandatory features are included in appropriate releases and that extendable architectures can accommodate future development and maintenance.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to mitigating risks, improving quality, and resolving issues as they occur.

Must have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related education and experience.
• Excellent management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• 8 to 10 years experience in all aspects of the SDLC in enterprise-level applications, preferably contributing to service oriented architecture (SOA) solutions.
• 5 to 6 years experience leading software teams with increasing levels of seniority and/or management.
• 5 to 6 years experience working with Microsoft .Net technologies
• Excellent technical aptitude and the ability to create quick and lean code.
• Deep understanding of standard web technologies.
• Understanding of complex database concepts and interfaces, as well as the implications of different database designs.
• UML experience and knowledge of design patterns.
• Ability to design generic application libraries, software estimation models, and coding standards.
• Significant knowledge of client server and internet systems architectures.
• Ability to get things done.

Nice to have

• Relevant and current Microsoft Certification.
• Project management experience or training.
• Knowledge of SharePoint and BizTalk.
• Strong and pro-active work ethic.
